These policies and guidance are actively communicated to the Company’s leaders, team, contractors, and partners to ensure that they are actively applied, reviewed and improved.

Health, Safety, Environment & Community

These policies are intended to ensure that SRQ and its subsidiaries adhere to best standards on health, safety, environment, and community during exploration and the subsequent project development. In addition, the company will evaluate contractors and suppliers’ activities according to these standards.

The diagram below shows the path for effective management of health, safety, environmental, labour and the community policies and guidelines. The path is based on various standards: health and safety (OHSAS 18000), the standards of the international management system of environment (ISO 14000) and on international environmental and social performance standards.

Health and Safety Policy

SRQ anticipates that all employees and contractors will work safely at all times. Strong leadership at all levels of the company is essential to ensure optimal performance of safety and health.

These policies are intended to ensure that SRQ and its subsidiaries adhere to best standards on health, safety, environment, and community during exploration and the subsequent project development. In addition, the company will evaluate contractors and suppliers’ activities according to these standards.

Environmental Policy

The Company believes that good environmental management at every exploration stage, prospect, and mine site, proactive health and safety procedures, transparent interaction with local communities, and implementation of prudent expenditure and business performance, constitute the foundation for successful exploration and sustainable development.

  • Complying with national environmental laws and meeting best international practices and standards;
  • Reducing our environmental footprint by applying resource efficiency and pollution reduction policies and procedures;
  • Applying waste management strategies;
  • Participating to the biodiversity conservation;
  • Studying the environmental impact on the surrounding communities and ecosystem services;
  • Providing a safe workplace to all our team and respecting all the labor laws.

SRQ believes in good environmental stewardship and strives to apply best management practices at all stages of exploration and project development activities.

The Company will develop and implement appropriate procedures for the different stages of its surveys, ground exploration, prospecting and evaluation, and development work. SRQ’s respect of this commitment positions it as a proactive company in the environmental protection field.

In these respects, the Company will work actively and transparently with government authorities, First Nation authorities, other elected parties, non-governmental organizations, and the communities themselves to ensure that they (the communities) are aware of the activities of the Company, and that community impacts are avoided or mitigated.

When drilling, evaluation and other such programmes are implemented, the Company will endeavour to identify how the impacts of such work on communities can best be managed, and how benefits can best be provided to communities through the activities of the Company.

  • Shall notify, communicate and consult with all persons or groups of persons external to the operations who may be expected to be affected by or concerned due activities in their areas of residence or livelihood.
  • Will promote strong relationships with, and enhance the capacities of, those communities where it conducts activities for ongoing periods;

Human Resources Policy

SRQ recognizes that the pursuit of economic growth through employment creation and income generation should be accompanied by protection of fundamental rights of workers.

  • Providing reasonable working conditions and terms of employment
  • Identifying migrant workers and ensuring that they are engaged on substantially equivalent terms and conditions to non-migrant workers
  • Providing accommodation services, on site, in a manner consistent with the principles of non-discrimination and equal opportunity
  • Complying with national law
  • Not making employment decisions on the basis of personal characteristics like gender, ethnic or religion
  • Basing employment on the principle of equality and fair treatment
  • Providing a grievance mechanism for workers to raise workplace concerns
  • Not employing children (all person under the age of 18) in any manner that is economically exploitative
  • Providing a safe and healthy work environment
